SETTLING IN AFTER RELOCATING!

Hello Reader,

It's been a minute and some!

I relocated from Lagos State to Enugu State with my family on Saturday, October 31st  2020.

Quite a though decision and a big change which involved a whole lot of planning, dialogues, packing, house search, unpacking, reorganizing and getting acquainted with the new environment!

The truth is one can't completely settle down after relocating, it is definitely going to take some time.

You may have settled into a new apartment or your home but routines might take a while to return back to normal and new discoveries about the city and immediate environment like places, friends, associates, food including the culture and lifestyle won't happen automatically.

Currently, I am at a phase where I need to resume my already existing routines and add new ones where necessary.

I will be updating this post with pictures of all I have been up to in the last seven weeks so look out for them.

Until my next post, Choose You!

DKCCMasterminds...Read, Learn, Lead and Network!

Eleven years ago I had an experience in the place of prayer whilst taking a personal retreat to ask the Lord what next...

You see, I had just finished writing my exams in my extra year as a law student. And I felt the need to embark upon a five days fasting and prayer (I was praying for my future; I needed to choose my next step wisely #CalculatedSteps)

Three things happened thereafter:
1.) I had a life changing experience.
2.) I perceived that I needed to go for service (i.e NYSC_National Youth Service Corporation) first before Law School, and I did.
3.) DKCC as an initial was conceived. And I wrote down the vision.

"It's very essential to write down the vision but believing it enough for someone else to connect with it and see the possibilities is all on you."
~@vickyohaegbulam
Founder,
MumsBookClubng & Lead Coach The Packaged Life Network

Five years down the line, DKCC was dedicated and launched at my home church, truth be told it felt like I still needed to stay on my script but I can tell you now categorically that I missed out on two things (Staying Committed & Being Diligent).

Six years after the dedication and almost at the verge of letting it go, he aligns it together (my passion and his will), that's the power of Proverbs 16 vs 1-3. I apply that scripture to all my ideas so that alas it won't be just about me but about my father's business, #SurrenderedWill.

"God always gives a platform when we have an innate, skilled or honed leadership ability."
~@vickyohaegbulam

Now, the ability to create, conceive ideas, provide solutions, innovate and the passion to be a change agent is a gift. And staying inspired, motivated and committed to your script could be quite a challenge.

Hence the emergence of this amazing community - DKCCMasterminds!

~Excerpt from Creative Calling by Chase Jarvis.

I do hope to see you come on board.

THE FUTURE OF CHURCH

As we await a time when we can all meet to fellowship in our local assembly for those who live in city where churches have not resumed services, let us (whether leader or member) begin to reflect on how this global pandemic should make us meditate deeply on Brother Paul's words in Philippians 3:14 (AMP), "I press on toward the goal to win the [supreme and heavenly] prize to which God in Christ Jesus is calling us upward."

Enjoy some of my reflections and thoughts on the future of church :

๐Ÿ”…If you have to miss church because you need to rest your body, please do and don't let anyone make you feel guilty for not attending church.

๐Ÿ”…After all we have not all attended church in the past weeks and we haven't backslided.

๐Ÿ”…If someone misses church for any particular reason, don't see them and ask- why weren't you in church? Instead ask them- how are you working out your salvation with fear and trembling?

๐Ÿ”…People miss church attendance for several reasons: they have to work, they want to rest or they are having some financial challenges (that type where you don't even have transport fare), they are wavering in their faith, etc.

๐Ÿ”…How about we find out how someone is doing in general when they have not been in church for a while instead of giving them a personalized sermon on the importance and benefit of fellowshiping with the brethren, how about you understand whatever phase or season they are in and encourage accordingly.

๐Ÿ”…Church is simply the gathering of the saints where we come to worship in unity, in faith and in spirit. Where we encourage one another because iron sharpens iron. David said, "I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go into the house of the Lord.” Psalm 122:1

๐Ÿ”…Church is a building. We are his Temple.

๐Ÿ”…Knowing God is about having a personal relationship and revelational knowledge. That's why the scripture says, "Those who do wickedly against the covenant he shall [a]corrupt with flattery; but the people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits." (Daniel 11: 32) And also said in Psalm 91:1, "He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty."

๐Ÿ”…Don't be a church goer only, abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

๐Ÿ”…Know God personally and be a Doer of his word- “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock:" Matthew 7: 24

All scriptures are from the New King James Version.

What is the future of church that you are seeing going forward?

I will like to hear your thoughts, inspiration or revelation on the matter.

Choose You and Shine Your Light Brightly,
Vicky.

THE POWER OF JOURNALING (1).

I love taking down notes during messages in church.

However, over the years I realized that I began to write more, during church service (because God can actually speak to me even before I hear the days message. I also began to write more during personal devotions, study, retreats, and when I have dreams or visions.

And by writing more I mean reflective thoughts, declarations, prayers, confessions, instructions.

At this time I knew this was no longer a regular church note or journal. Then I began to refer to this writings as My Meditation Journal as I would often go back to them for many different reasons.

"The art of taking notes is a skill and it can be cultivated."

HOW I IMPROVED ON MY DAILY SCRIPTURE READING

I finally found an app that was exactly the same reading plan as my hard cover NIV Bible.๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿพ

The Bible in One Year, which contains passages for each commentary from Psalms or Proverbs, the New Testament and the Old Testament.

The Bible readings are taken from the NIV Audio Bible read by David Suchet, which is available for download from the App Store. While the authors of the daily commentary are Nicky Gumble and Pippa Gumble.

You can download The Bible In One Year App on Google play store.

What I love most about the app:
*It is not a full bible (I still have my Amplified Bible App installed on my phone)
*The fact that the daily scriptures come into the App everyday.
*The daily commentary which can be read alongside the Scriptures to provide fresh understanding of the text.

Just a little update from My Bible in One Year Challenge.

So are you using this App or any other Bible in one year App? Please let me know in the comments!

Love and Light,
Vicky.

READ | REPOSITION | REINVENT.

The first half of the year will be a wrap next month.

And as we already know, this is an unusual year because if you have been feeling comfortable and confident in some areas of your life, what the world is going through now is questioning your comfort and life as we've known it.

A lot of deep reflections are happening on our existing life style, attitudes in general, beliefs, economy, the future of work and faith.

The truth is, this is not a time to still be saying or writing and not doing.

It's not a time to just keep acquiring or absorbing knowledge!

It's a time to exercise knowledge!

It's a time for your knowledge to find expression!

It's not a time for procrastination!

It's not a time to be complacent!

It's a time to stretch ourselves beyond every limitations.

For a lot of people the month of June is a time to re-visit, re-assess, re-evaluate, and re-strategize the goals, plans and visions that they have made for the year. And for Mums it is also a time for decluttering and rearranging and some deep cleaning.

But like the insertion on my vision board (find out how I prepared my vision board 2020 if you subscribe for all the issues of my online magazine, click on the last image of my gallery section) that says "Stretch Beyond Limitations," I want to do something challenging and unusual for willing Mums.

It's called Read, Reposition, and Reinvent yourself!

KEEP ON SEEKING AND YOU WILL FIND.

Matthew 7:7
Keep on asking and it will be given you; keep on seeking and you will find; keep on knocking [reverently] and [the door] will be opened to you.

Matthew 7:8
For everyone who keeps on asking receives; and he who keeps on seeking finds; and to him who keeps on knocking, [the door] will be opened.

(The Amplified Bible)

Up until June 2019 I had been seeking a new circle of friendship with Jesus girls who loved the Lord with all their heart and being.

This extended into prayers which the Lord began to answer as he led me to stayhomemom.ng instagram page where I began to lean in to Eziaha Bolaji- Olojo's writings and experience she shared using her blogs as a powerful medium. Attended EK-BAL-LO where I got a juicy hug from her and had an amazing encounter in God's presence.

Good thing she shared her mentorship program for stay at home Mums which started last year, but I missed out on it and kept staying alert for another opportunity. Thankfully an opportunity opened up in February 2020, I sent my application and I GOT IN. A super amazing learning experience it was for me this first quarter.

Again, few weeks into January 2020 and the Lord led me to Slay Home Mums Tribe. A community of godly women leaning in together to learn and maximize their seasons as SAHM is how I would always describe this Tribe led by the boss lady Chidinma Olarewaju.

I do hope you find whatever it is that you are seeking in this season.

Love and Light,
Vicky.

READING THE BIBLE IN ONE YEAR CHALLENGE

My utmost goal for 2020 is to know ABBA Father more. And what better way is there than to read the Scriptures daily.

So this year was finally the time for me to utilize The Bible in One Year Bible (New International Version) I had bought since 2013.

And of course in Vicky's style, I called it #ReadWithVickyChallenge2020ForMums where we would read two books daily; The Bible and 365 Things Every Parent Should Know by Doug Fields. Then created a WhatsApp Group for Mums who were interested in the challenge.

The month of January was great for me as I kept going on with the challenge but February was quite an intense month for me and because the staying up late/the early hours of the mornings are my most productive time to work in my season of being a SAHM. I most time work into my scheduled time to read my Daily Scriptures. So from missing two to three days and catching up it exceeded gradually to a point when it felt like I had missed out too much.

I began to feel like I should have done better in staying consistent.

So as the month of March was approaching I was wondering how I would catch up on the days I have missed in February and I was talking to ABBA about it and I decided that instead of feeling bad and piling up more days, how about I just continue from the current day.

Meanwhile, I was also slacking in my responsibility to send the weekly daily scriptures to Mums in the platform and searching to download free pdf copies of the NIV Bible reading plan I am using has become a project for me.

All these left me reflecting on the words CONSISTENCY, COMMITMENT and DILIGENCE!

The summary of my reflections is that "being diligent means that even though I don't achieve my daily goals today, I will try again tomorrow and try again next tomorrow because I am committed to following through and this will ultimately improve my consistency."

Today is Day 132 of 2020.
It's been 131 days of bible reading plus 1 day of prayers.
The journey is still on and you can join the challenge today by filling the contact form below.

Remember, you can receive notifications when a new post is up if you enter your email in the subscription box.

Love and Light,
Vicky.

I AM MOVING FORWARD!

The first title that came to mind for this post was 'I AM BACK, I AM READY AND I AM MOVING FORWARD', but it just seemed too long so I opted for the last few words.

This year makes it five years I started this journey of being a blogger and believe me when I started with the name 'vikidebscrib', I really wanted to share with you and the world all my creative expression simply letting you know that 'being creative is biblical'. However, I would then go on to change the name of the blog based on the feedback I was getting at the time.

Well the good thing is what has happened after five years is that I have been able to put most of my creative expressions into different mediums and businesses that enables me express them fully in the direction that I absolutely love.

Here it goes...
My love for fashion is fully expressed as a business through my online ready to wear store #SimpleStyleStoreng.

My love for paper and craft is fully expressed as a business through #VikiDebDesign.

My love for books is fully expressed as a business and an outreach through #MumsBookClubng, #ReadWithVickyChallenge2020ForMums and #ReadWithVicky for single ladies.

My love for cooking and creating new recipes is fully  expressed as a business through #3dCuisine.

My love for broadcasting is being expressed with #ThePackagedLifePodcast.

My love for teaching, coaching and speaking is being expressed through #ThePackagedLifeNetwork.

And finally my love for writing is fully expressed through my Ebooks #BooksbyVickyO, my Online Magazine #ThePackagedLifeOnlineMagazine and my blog #VictoriaOhaegbulamBlog.

You can find more details of my various expressions by clicking the images on the right side of this blog page or find some links below to connect with me.

Seeing I already share a lot of topics and interest I am passionate about on my other two writing expressions I decided to make the blog more specific. For example since I share my monthly reading list on the packaged life online magazine in the column everything books, I will take it a step forward in the blog by sharing the journey to accomplishing those reading goals and sometimes do a post of a book review or book discussion.

I would also be sharing my faith journey using experiences and teachings on how I am daily working out my salvation while you get to understand more how you can live #ThePackagedLife.

This would be a good time to ask how your first quarter in 2020 is going, are you moving forward towards your goals, dreams and aspirations? Please leave a comment below I will love to hear your response and engage with you.

Stay tuned by subscribing.

New post will be up every Monday.

And remember to choose you always!

Love and Light,
Vicky.
